The parent fatty acid in the Omega 3 family of polyunsaturates is Alpha-Linolenic Acid which can be converted in the body to longer chain members such as Eicosapentaenoic Acid (EPA) and Docosahexaenoic Acid (DHA). As an essential fatty acid, Alpha-Linolenic Acid is required in relatively large amounts in the diet and, together with its derivatives EPA and DHA, has been shown to be extremely useful in supporting the cardio vascular system. Flax Seed is richer in Omega 3 than fish oils. The oil obtained from Flax Seed is a minimum of 50% by weight Alpha-Linolenic Acid which is almost twice as many Omega 3's per gram of weight as fish oils. This is a suitable alternative to those who cannot tolerate fish oils. Now in gelatin free capsules at no extra cost!!!! Also known as linseed oil.
